On April 27-May 2, the ACM SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems will take place in Paris. The main vision behind CHI 2013 is about looking at new ways for people to interact with technology. PrimeSense is collaborating with JCDecaux, the number one outdoor advertising company worldwide, who will utilize our 3D sensors with JCDecaux’s digital format panels at the entrance of the Palais de Congres de Paris, where CHI2013 will take place. JCDecaux is using CoVii’s specialized software to turn the digital screens into almost touch screens using the third dimension to follow the user’s finger. Almost touch software from CoVii allows visitors to CHI2013 to browse the conference agenda and choose video previews of the sessions. A quick video demonstration of CoVii’s application from CES 2013 can be seen here.
CHI2013 is the perfect place for us to combine our efforts with JCDecaux because the conference focuses on all aspects of human-computer interaction. What better way to showcase this then by allowing visitors to interact with large screens featuring the schedule of the conference. JCDecaux recognizes the rise in digital platforms as a major shift in the advertising landscape and this collaboration is a huge move toward building even more powerful communications’ channels because interactivity engages us and increases our attention for viewing commercial or informative content.
