Dr. Orna Berry
Dr. Orna Berry  |  Chairperson
Dr. Orna Berry is currently active in industrial and entrepreneurial activities in the Israeli Science and Technology based industries. Dr. Berry is a Venture Partner in Gemini Israel Funds Ltd. Dr. Berry is a former Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Government of Israel. In this capacity she was responsible for implementing government policy regarding support and encouragement of industrial research and development. The Office of the Chief Scientist manages the programs in industrial R&D, which in the years of Dr Berry's tenure, 1997-2000, were budgeted at over $450M a year. Her background includes co-founding ORNET Data Communication Technologies Ltd.; raising the venture capital, building the world-wide infrastructure and managing the company's sale to Siemens. Dr. Berry has made significant technological contributions to the local area network (LAN) industry, has served as the Chief Scientist of Fibronics and as a senior research engineer in companies such as IBM and UNISYS. Dr. Berry received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and M.A. and B.A. degrees in Statistics and Mathematics from Tel Aviv and Haifa Universities. She is a frequent lecturer on "High-Tech" worldwide.
 

Inon Barecha
Inon Beracha  |  Chief Executive Officer
Prior to his position at Prime Sense Mr. Beracha served as Chief Executive Officer of DSP Group (NASDAQ: DSPG). Mr. Beracha was a Co-Founder of Ceragon Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: CRNT) where he served as the company's COO. Prior to co-founding Ceragon Networks Mr. Beracha was Vice President of the Electronic Research and Development Department of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD). Mr. Beracha is a winner of the Israel Defense Award for research and development.He holds a BSc and MSc degrees (Summa Cum-Laude) in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from Tel Aviv University.
 

Aviad Maizels
Aviad Maizels  |  President and Founder
Mr. Maizels draws upon 8 years of experience in technology and leadership. Aviad’s raw ideas were the incentive for bringing Prime Sense to life. Prior to founding Prime Sense, Aviad served in an elite intelligence unit in the IDF as head of a technological R&D section. Aviad has a BSc (Cum-Laude) in computer science from the Technion and an MSc from Weizmann institution in mathematics under the guidance of Prof. Adi Shamir.
 

Avi Hasson
Avi Hasson  |  General Partner, Gemini Israel Fund
As a General Partner at Gemini Israel Funds, Avi works with companies in the communications sector, including telecom and wireless, and in the consumer electronics space, with specific focus on the digital home. In over nine years at Gemini, he has been involved with many startups, and currently sits on the Board of Gemini portfolio companies Axxana, Contextream, Olista, Outsmart, Prime Sense and Starhome. As an active contributor to these companies, Avi often utilizes his close relationships with telecom vendors and operators. Avi came to Gemini from ECI Telecom (NASDAQ:ECIL), where he was Director of Product Marketing dealing with next generation telephony systems in the early days of Voice over IP and Voice over ATM systems. This Division had annual revenues of more than $300M. Prior to ECI, he held senior marketing and business development positions at Ectel (NASDAQ:ECTX), and played a pivotal role in defining Ectel’s strategy to penetrate the telecom market. While at Ectel, he was an active member of the ITU Quality of Service Development Group. Avi’s involvement in telecommunications began with his service in the Israel army. Recruited to the prestigious "Haman-Talpiyot" project, he rose to the rank of Major (Res.) in an elite intelligence corps technology unit. He holds a BA summa cum laude in Economics and Middle East Studies and an MBA from Tel Aviv University.
 

Jonathan Saacks
Jonathan Saacks  |  Partner, Genesis Partners
Jonathan (Jonny) Saacks is a Partner at Genesis Partners and sits on the boards of a number of Genesis Partners portfolio companies including Correlix, Prime Sense and Yedda. Jonny focuses on software investments, and in addition, is responsible for fund operations. Prior to joining Genesis Partners, Jonny worked at Gemini Israel Funds as a principal where he concentrated on software investments and fund operations management. Earlier in his career Jonny was the VP of Business Development and Director of UK-based Waterlogic and one of the first employees at Barak International Telecom Corp., where he was responsible for overseeing product management, marketing and international partnerships and helped the organization grow to 400 employees. Jonny also served for ten years in the Intelligence Corps of the Israeli Defense Forces commanding large operational teams. Jonny holds an MBA from Oxford University and a BA in Economics and Management from Tel Aviv University.
 

Izhar Shay
Izhar Shay  |  Venture Partner, Canaan Partners
As head of Canaan’s Israel operations since 2005, Izhar Shay focuses on building great companies in communications and mobility, software, clean technologies and digital media. He also seeks key investments in medical devices. Izhar led Canaan’s investments in LiveU, Efficient Finance, EnStorage and N-trig. Izhar also oversees Canaan’s local involvement in other Israeli companies.
With more than 20 years of operational experience as a successful entrepreneur, Izhar was previously Chairman and CEO of V-Secure Technologies, which he grew to a leading position in the intrusion prevention market. The company was acquired by Radware (RDWR) in November 2005. Prior to V-Secure, Izhar was CEO and co-founder of Business Layers, a Canaan portfolio company. Izhar led Business Layers from startup to a dominant player position in the identity management market, until it was acquired by Netegrity (NETE) in December 2003. Izhar was previously VP of Business Development with international investment firm The BRM Group.
Izhar holds a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from the Technion Institute in Haifa, Israel. He was a paratrooper in the Israeli army. Izhar is involved in various volunteer activities related to the education of young students in Israel. He serves on the board of directors of Snunit, a nonprofit organization, specializing in integrating technology and the Internet into Israel’s elementary schools. Izhar is also a member of the Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools organization. He writes a weekly column at Globes, and in his free time he dabbles in amateur video production.
