Making Healthcare More Efficient

iRobot is a global leader in robotics whose developments have already changed our lives. Their breakthrough mobile robotics platform, Ava, was developed to help expedite the pursuit of practical and affordable mobile robotic solutions.

Ava is already at work in hospitals and healthcare facilities with the RP-VITA (Remote Presence Virtual + Independent Telemedicine Assistant) speeding up patient treatment. Via local Wi-Fi and a cloud-based medical record system, the Ava collects patient data and can check vital signs with its connected octoscope, ultrasound devices and built-in stethoscope.

 

 

The RP-VITA utilizes two PrimeSense sensors. One is located at the base and is used for navigation, while the other is located in the upper section of the robot, enabling it to see the larger environment to in order to detect and interact with people.

The PrimeSense/Ava-enabled RP-VITA provides:

• Immediate, secure access to patients’ medical records
• Faster treatment of patients through initial screening of vitals
• Automatic navigation, without the need for physical intervention
